Pender County Jail Roster Overview
The official online roster is the Pender County Inmate Lookup, a CentralSquare/Zuercher public safety portal linked from the sheriff's Web Services and jail pages. It is free to use and no login was observed for the inmate list. The roster is for Pender County Jail custody, which means people under bond, awaiting trial, held by court order, serving a local sentence, or temporarily housed for state correction purposes.
The roster does not replace every other inmate-records channel. It is not the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction locator, so it does not cover sentenced prison records at Pender Correctional Institution or other NC DAC prisons. It is also not a federal Bureau of Prisons locator, an ICE detainee locator, or a court docket. A good Pender County inmate records search uses the county roster first, then moves outward when the custody type changes.
Search Pender County Inmate Records
Start with a name when possible. The portal can display the full current list at the default in-custody date, but name search is faster and less prone to broad matches. Race, sex, and held-for agency are best used after a first search, especially when a common last name returns many results.
- Open the Pender County inmate lookup from the sheriff's Web Services page or use the roster link directly.
- Enter the person's name, usually last name first if the spelling is known.
- Use race, sex, or held-for agency only to narrow a large result set.
- Check the in-custody date only for recent dates inside the portal's 30-day limit.
- Read the main row and the hold-reasons row because custody notes may be split across both.
- If the person is not listed, call the jail, check NC DAC, search VINELink, or use BOP and ICE if those systems fit the case.
The Pender County roster page shown below is the source that exposes the roster filters and public result columns used for current jail custody.
The roster screenshot supports the main search rule: use the county portal for current Pender County jail records, then switch systems when custody is state, federal, immigration, or court-based.
Pender County Roster Search Fields
The portal metadata shows which search fields are active for Pender County. Name, race, sex, in-custody date, and held-for agency are exposed to the public. Cell block, arrest date, and release date exist in the vendor template or API structure, but the current county configuration does not expose them as public search filters.

Pender County Inmate Profile Fields
A Pender County inmate record is displayed as a public roster row, not as a long profile page. The first row carries the main custody fields. The second row carries hold reasons, which can include bond or sentenced text, arrest-date language, or other custody notes. Treat that second row as a jail custody note, not as a final court judgment.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Mugshot | Booking image if present; a generic icon may appear when no image is available. |
| Name | Full roster name in last-first format. |
| Race | Race value selected from the portal metadata. |
| Sex | Male, Female, Unknown, or another configured value. |
| DOB | Date of birth under the current Pender display setting. |
| Arrest Date | Arrest or intake date tied to the custody record. |
| Held For Agency | Agency or authority for which the person is held. |
| Hold Reasons | Narrative custody text, which may mention sentenced status, bond language, or arrest-date details. |
| Release Date | API and template field that may be blank for current inmates and is hidden from current public columns. |
| Cell Block | Tracked in metadata, but not shown in current public roster columns. |
When Pender County Inmates Are Missing
A missing roster result does not always mean there was no arrest. The person may still be in intake, may have been released, may be held in another county, may be in safekeeping, or may have moved to state, federal, or immigration custody. The sheriff does not publish a fixed roster refresh interval. If an arrest is very recent, the record may lag until booking, magistrate review, and data entry are complete.
Use a fallback chain rather than repeating the same search. Call Pender County Jail at 910-259-1353 for custody-routing questions. For older jail records or booking information that is no longer returned by the roster, use Pender County NextRequest. For sentenced prison custody, use NC DAC. For notification, use VINELink. For federal or immigration custody, use BOP or ICE.
Note: The Pender roster's in-custody date filter is limited to the last 30 days and is not a full archive.
Pender County Jail Facilities
Pender County inmate records can point to two very different facilities. The jail is the local sheriff facility tied to booking, bond, visits, mail, and the current county roster. Pender Correctional Institution is a state prison in Burgaw and must be searched through NC DAC.

Pender County Jail and State Search
County jail records and state prison records answer different questions. A pretrial detainee, a person under bond, or a person serving a local sentence belongs in the Pender County jail search. A sentenced state prisoner belongs in the NC DAC Offender Public Information Search. NC DAC says its database includes current and historical state prison, probation, and parole information back to 1972, but it does not include county jail information.
| Custody | Where to Look | Record Type |
|---|---|---|
| Pretrial or local jail | Pender County jail roster | Booking and custody record. |
| Sentenced state prison | NC DAC offender locator | Prison, probation, parole, and sentence information. |
| Custody notification | NC SAVAN / VINELink | Custody-status alerts for jail and state systems. |
| Federal prison | BOP inmate locator | Federal prison custody after designation or sentence. |
| Immigration detention | ICE detainee locator | Civil immigration detention record. |
Pender County Booking Process
Pender County does not publish a long public booking manual, but the jail rules and roster fields show the basic path. A person is arrested or committed by court order, transported for jail or magistrate processing, searched and identified, entered into booking, photographed and fingerprinted when applicable, screened for medical or safety issues, assigned property storage, and then classified for housing. Phone access and jail clothing follow the intake process.
The inmate rules say new admissions receive a hygiene packet, jail clothing, and bedding. Special meals are documented at intake and verified by medical. Personal property is inventoried and stored in the property room. Cash balances are returned on release as a debit card or check depending on amount. The roster may appear only after enough intake and data entry are complete.
Pender County Bond Records
Bond information can appear in the hold-reasons row, but the roster is not the final court source for release terms. Pender County's bond page lists three local methods: bail bondsman, property bond, and cash bond. It also says property bonds greater than $5,000 require an attorney to prepare a deed of trust. Because other holds can block release, confirm the active bond and release status with the jail or magistrate before paying or arranging a bond.
| Bond Type | Pender County Notes |
|---|---|
| Bail bondsman or surety | A private bondsman posts bond; the sheriff page warns additional charges may apply. |
| Property bond | Secured by property; over $5,000 requires an attorney-prepared deed of trust. |
| Cash bond | Paid in cash after confirming amount, location, and release eligibility. |
| No-bond or other hold | A court, probation, out-of-county, safekeeping, U.S. Marshals, state, federal, or immigration hold may prevent release. |
Pender County Jail Visitation
The sheriff's visitation rules require proper ID and allow searches of all persons and belongings. Valid ID examples include a driver's license, state-issued ID card, or military ID. No personal belongings, food, or drink are allowed in the visitation area, and dress code is enforced. Inmate rules add that visits are first-come, each inmate is allowed 15 minutes, two adult visitors may visit, children may visit with an adult, and visitors must be on the visitation list.

Two photos are allowed in the personal area at one time. Polaroids and photos larger than 3 by 5 are not allowed.
Phone calls are collect. Incoming calls are not allowed, calls are limited to 15 minutes, and three-way calling is prohibited. The sheriff's web services page links inmate phone services to Securus. Commissary and jail funds can be handled at the lobby kiosk or through JailATM/Inmate Canteen.

Pender County Public Records Requests
When a jail record is older, missing from the roster, or not fully visible, Pender County's NextRequest portal is the documented public-records channel. The portal allows users to search past requests or make a new request. The request metadata includes date-range and key-terms fields, which are useful for jail records because a narrow booking date and full name help staff locate the right record.
The Pender County public-records portal shown below is the correct channel for county-held records that the jail roster does not expose.
North Carolina Chapter 132 supports public access, but criminal-investigation limits still apply. Ask for booking records, public arrest information, or a specific booking photo rather than broad investigative files.
